2009 Pirate Baseball Camp
The 2009 Boaz High Baseball Camp was conducted May 27 and 28 at Pirate Park. Over 50 campers and staff
members participated in the annual summer event. The young campers learned the fundamentals of baseball including defense
and offense. Each camper received individual and group instruction in batting, bunting and baserunning. The players also received
specific instruction at their chosen positions.Special emphasis was given to advanced instruction in middle infield play,
catching skills and pitching skills. The camp was staffed by current and former
Boaz High School players and directed by Boaz High Head Coach, Nick Dixon.
The campers attending were Austin Young, McKane Holland, Blake Young, Walt Williams, Kaitlyn Williams,
Will Cleghorn, Lucas Smith, Ethan Smith, Jake Smith, Hunter Porch, Andrew Burns, Caleb Moon, Colin Brooks, James Patton,
Tristan Burns, Taylor Burns, Jacob Smith, Mathew Smith, Jordan Guice, Dalton Moore, Ryan King, Brody Rickles, Malia Jones,
DJ Jones, Zach Neisler, Drake Bishop, Austin Phillips, Carson Chamblee, Zach Pankey, Tyler Dugan, Logan Bailey, Kaleb Harvey,
Joey Tidwell, Blake Lemaster, Brooke Lemaster, Carlton Peppers, Jesse FitzGerald, Garrett Bright, and Trey Willoughby.
The staff members included Logan Remson, Blake Douglas, Daniel Gaither, Jonathan Nixon, Amos Abbott,
Brett Willoughby, Tyler Musick, Dallas Gibson, Kody Burtram, Zack Willoughby, Ethan Davis, Blake Truett, Corbin
Battles, Casey Wiggins, Kyle Overstreet, Joel Dixon, Boaz Assistant Coach Josh Moon, Boaz Assistant Coach Jeff Overstreet.
“I would like to thank every boy and girl that we had attend. They were a great group of kids that
are really eager to learn. They did a great job in the dills and intsuction periods.I also thank the
staff members that donated their time and energy to make this camp a success. I especially thank two of our former players
that are now college players, Blake Douglas and Logan Remson. Their dedication to the game of baseball and Boaz High Baseball
is recognized and appreciated. We are also proud of the way that they are representing us at the college ranks. Both
of them had outstanding seasons at Calhoun Community College. “ commented Boaz High Head Coach Nick Dixon.

Boaz High Summer Camp Scheduled
The 2009 Baseball High Baseball Summer Camp has
been schedule for Wednesday May 27 and Thursday May 28. The camp will include hitting
instruction and drills plus instruction in two specific skill areas selected by each camper.
The skill areas are Pitching, Catching, Infield Play, and Outfield Play. Younger campers and beginners will also be taught
the proper mechanics for throwing and fielding. Campers will be grouped according to ability level and age for group work
and instruction.
The 2-day camp will run from 9:00 to 12:00 each
day. The cost will be $30 for campers that register early and $35 for those campers that register on the day of the camp.
The camp will be co-directed by Boaz High coaches Nick Dixon and Jason Noles. The camp enrollment will be limited to
40 players. Early registration is recommended.

Q&A?
- What should players wear? Baseball caps are a must! Baseball pants with a t-shirt is
recommended. We will practice sliding so long pants are a must.
- May players bring their own water bottles? Yes, they may. They should make sure that
their name is clearly marked on their bottle. They will be given several breaks during the morning. During these breaks they
may drink from their own bottle.
- What is the cost for snack or drinks for the "15 Minute" morning break? The players
need to bring $2 each day to pay for their snack and drink during break. Players may bring their own snack or drink.
Our snack selection includes candy, chips, crackers, and softdrinks.
- What items should my son bring? Fielding Glove, Bat, and Batting Gloves
- Any other suggestions? Yes, make sure your players name is clearly marked on every item brought
to the camp. Sunscreen is recommended for sun protection.
- Please make arrangements to drop-off your player between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM. Make arrangements
to pick your child up no later than 12:15 PM.

The instruction and drills in this camps will be focused on all
aspects of the game including hitting skills, baserunning, infield play, outfield play, mental approach at the plate, proper
practice habits, and more. Players will receive instruction in small groups and drill stations.
Each player will receive an official camp T-shirt, a $10 value, absolutely
free. Checks should be made out to Boaz High Baseball Bosters.
Boaz High Head Coach Nick Dixon and assistant caoch Jason Noles will direct
the camp. The Boaz High Staff along with former and current players will conduct the instruction, drill stations, and small
group instruction. In the event of a rainout, all fees will be returned by mail.
